Badger County Park, Peshtigo, WI - Darby's Bad Week

Not a lot to report this time.  On Friday we moved from Gwinn, MI to the Badger County Park in Peshtigo, Wisconsin.  This is a nice clean and quiet county run RV Park/Campground right in the village of Peshtigo, Wisconsin, about 45 minute North of Green Bay.

We didn't get out to do much while we were here as Darby had some health issues we had to deal with.  He was having trouble opening his mouth and was in quite a bit of pain.  We took him to the vet (when we were near Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and they thought he had MMM (masticatory muscle myositis) which is an autoimmune disease that affects the muscles of the head and jaw.  The vet put him on prednisone assuming that was what he had.  The blood test came back about a week later indicating that he tested negative for MMM.  This is when we took him to the animal hospital in Wisconsin where they did x-rays and put him under anesthesia and examined his mouth.  They determined that he had a puncture wound inside his jaw and had developed a very bad infection. Long story short - about two weeks and $1500. later he is finally doing much better - he is on antibiotics and pain pills so he isn't 100% yet but he is getting there.  Unfortunately he is still on prednisone because you have to wean him of this drug gradually and this is impacting his recovery.

We are moving tomorrow from Peshtigo to Wilderness County Park in Necedah, WI, about 3 hours southwest of here.
