Old Port - Portland, Eastern Promenade, Berlin Wall

Saturday we rode over to Portland and took a walk on the Eastern Promenade, a trail that skirts the harbor - we also walked around the "Old Port" area of Portland - the historic port area of Portland which is adjacent to the Promenade. 

Fort Gorges - a former U.S. military fort built in 1858 and named for the colonial proprietor of Maine,  Sir Ferdinando Gorges. 

Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse - built in 1897 and still in service.

Statue of George Cleeve one of the founders of Portland in 1633.

USS Portland Memorial at Fort Allen

The foremast of the USS Portland, a Portland Class heavy cruiser that saw action at the Battle of the Coral Sea, Battle of Midway, and Guadalcanal in World War II.  This is located at Fort Allen, a Revolutionary War and War of 1812 fort site - unfortunately nothing remains of the original fort.
